The myth

There is a widely held belief that recovery after stroke has a window: roughly the first few months, after which the brain is considered finished. It is the reason so many people are told to adjust their expectations. But the evidence no longer supports that. Intensive, well-targeted training has produced clinically meaningful progress in people who were years post-stroke — long after the window was supposed to have closed.

The window does not close. What usually closes is access — to structured, expert, progressive training. When that stops, progress stops, and that standstill gets mistaken for a biological limit. It rarely is.

That is the entire reason we built a permanent location: so that access does not have to stop.

I am not writing this to move you toward anything. I am writing it because you once indicated that training with us was something you wanted but could not reach — and this is built to be an answer to that.

If this is your moment, send me an email — and we will look together at which of the two ways of starting fits you best. And if now is not the right time: that is completely fine. The location is permanent. The window, it turns out, stays open. You are welcome whenever you are ready.
